ANC slams Trump comments
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
The African National Congress' (ANC) deputy secretary general, Jessie Duarte, has labelled United States president Donald Trump's comments on Africa as offensive.
Trump lashed out at American officials about their immigration reform, demanding that it should not accept citizens from what he called "shithole" countries.
According to The Washington Post, Trump said, "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?"
Duarte and secretary general Ace Magashule addressed media ahead of the governing party's 106th anniversary celebrations on Saturday.

Duarte says Trump should first look at the problems his own country is facing before commenting on African countries.
"Ours is not a shithole country. It is extremely offensive for President Trump to make statements about other countries that are not complementary of the US' position, or policy positions, on those countries. It is unfortunate."
Duarte dubbed Trump's comments derogatory.

"All we can say is that developing countries do have difficulties. They are not small matters but it's not as if the United States don't have problems. There are millions of unemployed people in the US, millions who don't have health care or access to education."
