ANC stalwarts want to engage Zuma
Updated | By Samkelo Maseko
A group of ANC stalwarts have expressed their pain at recent events in the ruling party.

At a briefing in Johannesburg, the stalwarts said the current trajectory of the ANC cannot continue.
This comes a day after the Public Protector released the state capture report.
"Sadly at the centre of this disgraceful behaviour sits our President and some very dodgy people with whom he has surrounded himself and who we have seen the details of in the Public Protector's report," former ANC deputy secretary-general Cheryl Carolus said.

The stalwarts say they are not calling for the resignation of President Jacob Zuma, but do want to engage him and the party's other top five officials.
The elders lamented the fact that their requests for a meeting has so far fallen on deaf ears.
"We have asked for a meeting with the President on 10 September. He was travelling. We hope that meeting is going to happen," Reverend Frank Chikane said.
