The African National Congress (ANC) in the greater Johannesburg region has submitted a motion of no confidence against Mayor Herman Mashaba.

The party held a media briefing on Friday to outline its plans to oust Mashaba.
Chairperson Geoff Makhubo has accused Mashaba's administration of plunging the city into a financial crisis.
"The city illegally awarded an institutional review tender which resulted in the out-of-court settlement with a complainant of R7 million, an illegal award of a contract to Mashaba's favorite NGO to a run a drug rehabilitation program costing the city R11 million and another illegal award of a fleet contract to the tune of R3.9 billion without following proper supply chain processes."
Makhubo says the ANC is in talks with other political parties in the city council to support the motion.
