ANC suspends councillor for contravening lockdown regulations
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga has suspended Councillor Musawenkosi "Cheppy" Masina from the Tshwete Local Municipality.

This comes after Masina was arrested for allegedly issuing illegal permits to local and foreign Spaza shop owners.
It is alleged Masina charged foreign national spaza shop owners between R300 and R1000 for fraudulent permits during the current nationwide lockdown.
The provincial acting provincial secretary, Lindiwe Ntshalintshali, says the speaker of council has suspended him as a councillor and Masina will also have to face the ethics committee.
"We are saying as the ANC we cannot tolerate any member of the ANC that would be involved in any corrupt activities or abusing state resources using COVID-19," says Ntshalintshali.
Masina is held in police custody and is facing charges of contravening the Disaster Management Act.
