Updated | By Maidi Monareng
The ANC in Limpopo says it will follow the necessary procedure with regards to one of its regional secretaries who has been charged with rape.
Tolly Mashamaite, who is die ANC's Regional Secretary in the Waterberg region, was granted bail by the Mokopane Magistrate's court yesterday.
He is accused of raping a 33 year-old woman in April this year at hotel in Mokopane.
The party says it will wait for a report from regional leaders before deciding on the way forward.
"We will allow the Regional Executive Committee to sit down and reflect on the matter. We will await their report and recommendations and the leadership from the province will take it from there," ANC spokesperson Aluwani Netsianda said.
Netsianda says the ANC condemns the abuse of women.
"We will respect the laws of the country. Everyone is presumed to be innocent until a court of law proves otherwise."
