The governing party’s began its three-day national executive committee (NEC) meeting on Friday and expected to conclude on Sunday.

The party's integrity commission report, which recommended that secretary-general Ace Magashule to step aside until he is cleared of corruption charges, is set to be debated on Sunday.

"When it comes to the issue of secretary-general Magashule, you need ANC that is decisive in terms of dealing with matters of corruption.

"ANC's decisions should be taken also looking at future implications on the party," says Ndou.

"The continuous protection of those that are implicated in corruption by the ANC has got potential to negatively affect the ANC, come to the local government elections and next general elections."

Ndou also wants the party to adopt a model for the funding of higher education at the NEC meeting.

"Another thing that will also expect the ANC to come up clear on will be on the issue that relates to funding of higher education.

"The ANC, after this meeting, must make a clear pronouncement whether on how they are going to deal with the debt for students, come out clear on the model for funding in higher education because the ANC, for me, must find ways to prevent strikes in higher education that happen annually due to funding challenges.”
