ANC veterans push for separate consultative conference
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
ANC veterans are set to meet with the organisation's top 6 on Monday when they will continue to push to separate the consultative conference from this year's policy conference.

The ANC's National Executive Committee last year resolved to hold the consultative conference on the first two days of the policy conference.
The veterans addressed media following this weekend's ANC January 8 statement, insisting that a separate consultative conference is the only way to solve the ruling party's problems.
Reverend Frank Chikane says the parties want the consultative conference to happen as soon as possible, saying it will allow the party enough time to look at its shortcomings ahead of the policy and leadership conferences.
"We believe that the intervention on processes leading to the policy conference and the elective conference are critical, because what happens at that conference will determine the direction the ANC will be taking beyond that and that is critical," Chikane.
The group also stressed the importance of deciding on the type of person and values required to lead the ruling party before deciding on any individual.
