ANC Veterans: 'True target of Gordhan attacks is Ramaphosa'
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
A group of ANC Stalwarts and Veterans claim President Cyril Ramaphosa is the true target of the recent attacks on Minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan.

This follows utterances by Deputy President David Mabuza last week that Gordhan and the Eskom board had misled President Cyril Ramaphosa when they told him there would be no loadshedding until 13 January 2020.
Eskom implemented loadshedding already in the first week of the new year.
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has since called for the removal of Gordhan as minister in charge of the struggling power utility.

In a statement released by the group of veterans on Wednesday, they say they are appalled by the attacks on the minister.
"Casting blame on and directing opprobrium at Pravin Gordhan for the state of affairs at Eskom is disingenuous and duplicitous."
"The true target of those ANC politicians and their fellow travellers who are leading the attack is President Cyril Ramaphosa," reads the statement.
The stalwarts believe recent attacks are an attempt to remove a "President committed to rehabilitating the country's institutions and eliminating corruption."
