ANC welcomes KZN drug bust

The exposure of a drug laboratory and over R2 billion worth of heroin in Kloof, Durban, was welcomed by the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday.

"It is indeed a good story to tell," African National Congress provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala said in a statement.
"We hope that our police will continue doing a great job in making sure that we raise our kids in a drugs free society."
Captain Thulani Zwane said earlier that the drug lab, raided on Tuesday, was the biggest ever exposed in the province.
After gathering intelligence on the house in an elite suburb, the Umhlali K9 (dog unit) and task team, as well as Phoenix crime intelligence and the tactical response team, pounced on the drug den.
"Upon searching the premises they found three men in the premises, then discovered a number of 40kg bags of pure heroin powder as well as industrial manufacturing machines, scale, and containers."
The men, aged 23, 55, and 56, were arrested and would be charged at the Pinetown Magistrate's Court with manufacturing drugs, no later than Thursday, Zwane said.
The ANC in the province said it was believed that two of the men were Chinese nationals, while one was South African.
"The ANC wants to caution all those foreign nationals who think South Africa is an ideal country for them to carry out their evil deeds to think again."
