ANC will act against the corrupt, vows Mashatile
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
African National Congress (ANC) treasurer-general Paul Mashatile has sent a stern warning to party members who are implicated in corruption.
“We will continue as the current leaders of the ANC not only to be outspoken against corruption, but to act against those within our ranks who do wrong things and are involved in corruption,” he said.
Mashatile was speaking outside the home of late struggle stalwart Andrew Mlangeni in Soweto on Wednesday morning.
Mlangeni is due to be laid to rest on Wednesday following his death at the age of 95 last Tuesday.
The comments by Mashatile come amid renewed reports over the past week linking ANC members to Covid-related corruption.

Senior members who have been summoned to explain themselves to the party include Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku and Presidency spokesperson Khusela Diko.
It is alleged that Masuku influenced the awarding of a R125 million Covid-19 tender which was awarded to Royal Bhaca, a company that is linked to Diko’s husband Thandisizwe.
Diko and Masuku’s wife Loyiso Lugayeni-Masuku are close family friends.
However, Masuku has denied the allegations while Diko has taken leave of absence from all official roles in government, pending an investigation.
