ANC backs ActionSA’s Nasiphi Moya for Tshwane mayor

The ANC has resolved to support ActionSA councillor Nasiphi Moya as the new mayor of Tshwane following the ousting of the DA’s Cilliers Brink through a motion of no confidence.

The Tshwane council will meet on Wednesday to elect its fourth mayor in three years.
Moya is the current acting mayor of the metro.
Speaking ahead of the council meeting, Moya welcomed the nomination and acknowledged ANC’s councillors in Tshwane for their cooperation.
“I have worked with ward councillors, and we saw crisis after crisis this past two weeks, but it was not known because of the level of collegiality that I’m getting mostly from ANC councillors” Moya added.
ANC national spokesperson Mahlengu Bhengu said Moya’s qualifications made her the best candidate.
“The ANC has decided to support the candidate Dr Nasiphi Moya, this is based on the strength of her experience and qualifications.”
At the same time, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said that the capital city’s interests must be prioritised above political affiliations.
“In the short stint that she has acted, Dr Nasiphi Moya has demonstrated how to drive this municipality. We want the best interest of Tshwane, and we want to thank ActionSA for nominating a candidate that we believe will represent and unite all of us,” Lesufi said.
