ANCYL won't comment ANC leadership: Maine
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
ANC Youth League president Collen Maine says the party's National Working Committee has reaffirmed an earlier decision by the National Executive Committee, that members should not publicly pronounce on their choice for ANC leadership.
Maine told the Complimentary Breakfast the league will honour the directive and refrain from making public pronouncements on who they will back to succeed Jacob Zuma as President of the ruling party.
"All of us must stop loud-hailing about who we are going to pick until such time that the movement has opened up the processes. So until such time, people can keep on guessing," says Maine.
This comes after the ANC Women's League backed Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as their preferred candidate to lead the ANC.
Trade union federation Cosatu has endorsed Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.
