Anglo-American suspends work at flood-hit Tumela mine
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Anglo-American Platinum says operations will remain suspended at its Tumela mine in Thabazimbi following heavy rains in Limpopo.

Last week’s inclement weather led to flooding in the area, killing at least one person.
This was compounded by the collapse of the Bierspruit dam near Swartklip on Thursday, leading to the temporary suspension of all operations and evacuation of all employees and contractors.
Flooding at the Tumela mine affected pumping capacity, some underground workings and the main pump station.
In a statement on Monday, the world's largest producer of platinum said the flooding at the Amandelbult Complex did not affect access to the main Dishaba mine and the concentrator.
The mining giant said an impact assessment and recovery plan is underway to ensure safe production at the Tumela mine.
"Preliminary indications are that the 2025 metal-in-concentrate production guidance of 3 million to 3.4 million PGM ounces is not expected to be impacted.
"Tumela mine contributes approximately 10% to the total monthly M&C production."
All the operations at the Amandelbult Complex, except for the Tumela mine, resumed on Monday.
