ANN7 journalists face disciplinary action
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
Amid the sacking of journalists at the public broadcaster this week, disciplinary hearings for several journalists at ANN7 were also set to start on Wednesday.
On Tuesday the axed SABC journalists indicated that they will take their battle to the Labour Court together with their trade union, Solidarity.
It is unclear what charges the ANN7 journalists are facing but according to information it is related to the group participating in a protest outside the company's Midrand studios earlier.
Last month nine journalists were fired by the Gupta owned media house for allegedly chasing away ANC Youth League president Collen Maile in April, when he attempted to address them.
Communication Workers Union president Clyde Mervin said the matter would also be heard at the CCMA while they will represent the ANN7 journalists at the disciplinary hearing on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the public broadcaster will be forced to defend its blanket ban on the broadcast of violent protests in court on Wednesday.
The North Gauteng High Court will hear an application by the Helen Suzman Foundation against the SABC, its Board, the Minister of Communications and COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng.
The SABC fired seven journalists after they spoke out against the revised editorial policy.
