Anoj Singh loses bid to have bail conditions relaxed for a job in Dubai

The Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court has declined Transnet former Group Chief Financial Officer Anoj Singh's application to have his bail conditions relaxed.
He approached the court last week seeking permission to take up a job in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) from a company called Buy4Rich.
Singh is alleging that he has been unable to secure adequate employment in South Africa, due to the corruption and fraud charges levelled against him.
Singh and his 14 co-accused are facing charges ranging from fraud, corruption, money laundering and Contravention of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) relating to the 2012 to 2015 locomotives transaction advisory tender at Transnet.
Singh is charged alongside former Transnet bosses Brian Molefe and Siyabonga Gama, former acting CFO Garry Pita, and former group treasurer Phetolo Ramosebudi.
"Handing down judgement, Acting Magistrate Emmanuel Magampa said Singh failed to provide evidence that he could not secure a job in South Africa.
"While there is no evidence to gainsay his assertion that he cannot find any job in South Africa, one has to concede that having been stripped of his status as Chartered Accountant it will be challenging to get a position as a CEO or CFO or any high ranking position similar to the ones he held at Eskom and Transnet. However, I find it difficult to believe that he cannot find any other job," he said.
