Gauteng Premier David Makhura warned at the time that the provincial government will not be attending to schools damaged by fires as a result of protest action.
Johannesburg emergency services spokesperson Nana Radebe says the cause of the fire is still unknown.
"Only the storeroom was on fire and we managed to contain the fire. Fire safety officers are currently on scene doing preliminary investigations of what had caused the fire."
No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi is set to visit the school on Friday.
