South Africa has recorded 21 606 new positive coronavirus cases.
The latest increase in infections is only a few hundred cases less than the record number of new daily infections recorded on Friday.
In the latest report by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, the country’s recovery rate sunk to 78.9 per cent.
In the same 24-hour period, 399 fatalities were also recorded.
"Regrettably, we report 399 more Covid-19 related deaths: Eastern Cape 85, Free State 11, Gauteng 69, Kwa-Zulu Natal 96, Limpopo 5, Mpumalanga 15, Northern Cape 12 and Western Cape 106. This brings the total deaths to 32 824," Mkhize said.
