Another JMPD officer killed
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
The City of Johannesburg has confirmed that yet another Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) officer has been killed.

The 47-year-old tried to intervene in an armed robbery he witnessed in Ivory Park on Friday night.
The three suspects opened fire on him - shooting him in the arm and chest.
He was off-duty at the time.
A search for the suspects ensued shortly afterwards, but no arrests have yet been made.
The mayor has expressed his anger over the incident, which follows only weeks after two other JMPD officers were killed when they were hit by a drunk driver at a road block.
"I am bitterly disappointed and angered that yet another one of our officials have lost their lives while attempting to serve and protect, Herman Mashaba said in a statement. "This is the fourth death in the JMPD in less than a month, and it must be stopped."
He has subsequently called on the provincial police commissioner to assist in tracking the suspect.
Mashaba has also called on the head of the JMPD Davide Tembe to set up a task team.
The statement by the city concludes: "The Department of Public Safety and Executive Mayor Mashaba expresses our deepest condolences to the family and will provide the necessary support to them and our traumatised officials."
