Another Monday of Joburg CBD power outage
Updated | By Gerda de Sousa
City Power hopes to restore power to all affected areas in the Johannesburg CBD by the latest Tuesday morning.
City Power spokesperson Sol Masolo says technical teams continue to work throughout the night to repair the cables cut in underground tunnels a week ago.
He says 40% of affected areas have electricity and they hope to fully restore the service by either Monday night, or early Tuesday morning.
"The only reason why it is taking long, is purely because of the amount of work that needs to be done."
Masolo adds technicians have to do repair and replace work along a 9 kilometer tunnel. The space is also confined, complicating the work even further.
"It is difficult working conditions, but everything is going according to schedule" said Masolo.
