Another SABC board member resigns

President Jacob Zuma has accepted the resignation of yet another SABC board member.
Deputy chairperson of the board Leah Thabisile Khumalo is the third SABC board member to have resigned recently.
Her resignation comes after Krish Naidoo and Vusi Mavuso announced their resignations during an emergency parliamentary communications portfolio committee meeting earlier this month.
Naidoo told the committee the board is dysfunctional and should be dissolved.
"The President has thanked Ms Khumalo for her contribution during her tenure at the SABC and wished her well in all her future endeavours," the Presidency said in a statement.
Presidency spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga would not confirm what reasons Khumalo provided, if any, for her resignation.
The board has again come under fire following the reappointment of former COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng.
MPs have called on communications minister Faith Muthambi to dissolve the board.
An inquiry into the board's fitness to hold office is expected to get underway soon.
Parliamentary committee chair Humphrey Maxegwana in a statement said the inquiry would be held and finalised before 24 November.
