Another Soshanguve school goes up in flames

Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire which engulfed Soshanguve High School on Wednesday morning.
This is the fourth school in the region that has been engulfed in flames since the start of the 21-day nationwide lockdown.

The fire broke out on Monday morning. READ: Timing of Fitch downgrade 'came as a shock' - economist Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso says they rushed to the scene after a security officer alerted them to the blaze. "Firefighters arrived on the scene to find an administration block of the school fully engulfed in the fire.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso says the school’s admin block, consisting of 12 offices, was engulfed by flames.
"Firefighters had to break the gate, as well as the doors to the building, to gain entry and to start with firefighting.
"The fire was subsequently extinguished even though the building and its contents suffered bad damages due to the fire. The fire was extinguished just past 5 o’ clock this morning," said Mabaso.
The cause of the fire has not been established.
