Anti-racism protest to be held outside Hoërskool Die Wilgers

Frustrated community members are set to stage an anti-racism, bullying, and discrimination protest outside Hoërskool Die Wilgers in Pretoria East on Monday.

Parents claim a Grade 8 pupil from the school was allegedly called the “K” word by two white pupils.
When the parents of the victim reported the issue to the principal, they say she dismissed it "in fear of losing her job and sponsors for the school".
Community leader Felicia April says while the school claims to have disciplined the two pupils, it is yet to provide proof.
“They say they suspended the two boys for seven days, and then they went back to school but the parents do not have the outcome of the disciplinary hearing. They say it’s confidential and they can’t give it to the parents.
“We are not happy that the victim had to be removed out of school whilst the boys are still in school.
“Secondly, the principal admitted that she handled it wrong and told the parents on numerous that she handled it wrong and that they must take their child. Why must the victim leave the school?”
