All busses that form part of the Tshwane Rapid Transit (TRT) system, also known as the Areyeng bus service, were running on Wednesday.

This after an interdict was obtained to stop members of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) from striking in the capital city.

The City of Tshwane's MMC for  Roads and Transport, Sheila Senkubuge says while the wage dispute is between workers and a private company, subcontracted to deliver the bus services, the City is involved in trying to find a way forward in as far as it affects commuters.

"All the busses are running as per schedule today because TRT received a temporary interdict for the strike and they served it to the union last night," explains Senkubuge.

Numsa is demanding that workers on fixed-term contracts receive the same rights and protection as permanent staff.

"All the busses are running as per schedule today because TRT received a temporary interdict for the strike and they served it to the union last night, " explains Senkubuge.
