The latest Eminent Persons Group (EPG) report has revealed that Athletics South Africa (ASA) failed to meet its transformation target.
The announcement was made by Minister of Sports and Recreation Toko Xasa in Pretoria on Tuesday.
“It is with disappointment that athletics has not met its scorecard target. I will in due course have a meeting with the leadership of Athletics South Africa to insist on them to present me with their plan on how they intend to address this pertinent matter,” Xasa said.

The EPG report deals with the transformation targets set by various federations in conjunction with the government.
Failure to achieve 50% of the targets could lead to the imposition of penalties.
Although Xasa could not immediately say what sort of penalty would be imposed, she made it clear that action will be taken against Athletics South Africa.
Meanwhile netball, rugby, cricket and soccer all managed to reach their transformation targets, an achievement Xasa believes provesthat transformation is moving in the right direction.
