Assets of child abuse suspects Wilken, Moodley seized
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) of the National Prosecuting Authority seized assets belonging to child abuse material accused Darryn Wilken and his girlfriend Tiona Moodley on Tuesday.

The seizure follows an urgent court application granted by the High Court last month.
The urgent application sought the preservation of cash seized at the crime scene as well as other cash in a frozen bank account belonging to Wilken and Moodley, and the High Court of South Africa granted it last month.
This followed the execution of a search and seizure warrant obtained in January by the police’s Cybercrime Unit.
The pair is facing charges of manufacturing and distributing child sexual abuse material, possession of drugs and money laundering.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonodwane says Wilken's luxury vehicle was also seized.
"The luxury vehicle, high-end electronic equipment and R647,300 in cash were the subjects of the search and seizure warrant, and they brazenly reflected the registration number KIDZ NA GP."
Wilken allegedly operated a child pornography website, offering child sexual abuse material for sale worldwide to clients.
He operated this ‘enterprise’ from residential premises situated in a complex in Midrand, hosting child pornography on a website which contained what is believed to be the largest cache of such found in South Africa to date.
Previously during their last court appearance in the Randburg Regional Court, their legal representatives launched a bail application.
The application was however opposed by the State.
The Court handed down judgment on 14 February 2025, denying the accused bail.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing both locally and abroad so as to protect the rights of children.
The pair remain in custody until 24 March 2025
