At least 3000 forensic reports on corruption at SOE's, says Gordhan

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has revealed that his department is in possession of close to 3000 forensic reports detailing corruption at county’s various state-owned entities.
Gordhan briefed the media ahead of his budget vote speech on Thursday.
"Over the past year or so at the department, we have brought together forensic reports from different entities which total close to 3000. Not all of them have been acted upon or properly investigated by the criminal justice system. But at some stage or the other, those who have been identified for being capable of stealing money from the state and these institutions and undermining the SOE's need to be held to account.”

He said Transnet lost between R7 billion and R8 billion through an irregular locomotive deal, while SA Express and South African Airways lost around R6 billion through irregular tenders and bloated contracts.
Gordhan said while Eskom was still counting its losses, most of the SOE's at the center of state capture are in dire financial strains.
He warned that despite the government’s efforts to save the entities, extraordinary ways would have to be found to fund their operations.
