Vavi says no truth to rumours that death threats might force him to quit politics
Cosatu General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi says he has had to live with death threats all his life and is not worried about it. "I can take all of these things without a blink. It is the family who has become increasingly scared from what they have witnessed and seen from the media." says Vavi.
Vavi says that his family is also preparing an Indaba for him in December where he believes they will try to convince him to resign from his political career. Vavi insists however that he does not share the same sentiments as his family.
"That is their view. My view is that this is unfortunately a hazard of any trade unionist that is hones. It is part of the game, unfortunately. It shouldn't be like this. Democracy should be the place where we exchange ideas, we differ, we campaign on the basis of political and idealogical differences, but it should never descend into violence, deaths, poisons, all of the things we fear now, said Vavi.
