Authorities foil armed robbery at OR Tambo
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
Members of the police, Metro Police and private security have foiled an armed robbery at the OR Tambo International Airport.

Police say eight suspects allegedly entered the cargo terminal in two cars and stole a truck carrying cellphones.
The suspects scattered when they were spotted by police.
Two of them fled on foot onto the R21 highway where one was arrested and the other shot and killed during a shootout with a member of the K9 unit.
ER24 confirms they found the suspect with a gunshot wound to the head near Voortrekker Road in Kempton Park.
The other suspects fled in the truck and one of the vehicles.
They later abandoned the vehicles and fled on foot.
Police say they recovered the truck on the R24 and the vehicle in Alexandra.
While they launched a manhunt for the suspects, they have also launched an investigation into the robbery.
"Inside involvement in this robbery cannot be ruled out at this stage and this too is what is possibly compounding the efforts of police to be effectively proactive," police say.
The matter is being investigated by the "multi-disciplinary team" which was set up to curb robberies at the airport.
