Authorities looking for guard who stole R4m

Cash transport company SBV Services has appealed for help in tracking down a former employee linked to the theft of R4 million from a cash depot at Mall of Africa.

The Sowetan reports that 29-year-old Bathobile Mlangeni allegedly strolled out of the Midrand depot with a trolley containing refuse bags that were stuffed with millions of rands.

Mlangeni has not returned to work since the day of the theft.
In a statement, SBV services say they are working closely with police to arrest the suspect.
“If an incident [of theft] does occur, we will focus our efforts together with the relevant authorities to ensure that the perpetrators involved are brought to justice,” says CEO of SBV services Mark Barrett.
“SBV is currently not in a position to disclose any details regarding this case due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.”
