According to police, the suspects overpowered officers, stole a firearm and escaped at around 5.00pm yesterday.
The incident happened while officers were giving the prisoners food.
The police's Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects were arrested on charges of rape.
No shots were fired during the escape.
"We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Anyone with information may contact their nearest police station," Ngoepe says.
The suspects Benny Mathaba (24), Thomas Maowasha (23) and Papiki Mashapo (23) were arrested for rape.
This is the latest incident in a string of escapes in the province this year.
