The Energy Department's spokesperson, Robert Maake, says the main reason for the hefty increase is the weakening of the rand against the US Dollar and the rise in international oil price.

The petrol price for all grades will increase by 71c per litre.

Diesel 0.05% sulphur and 0.005% sulphur will increase by 57 cents and 63 cents per litre, respectively.
