Bain & Co. ‘considering response’ to 10-year ban

Consultancy firm Bain & Co. has come out guns blazing after Treasury decided to slap it with a ten year ban.
Treasury announced on Thursday that the firm will not be allowed to tender for public contracts over the next decade.
The controversial multinational company was fingered in a report by the commission of inquiry into state capture for the work it did for the SA Revenue Service.
In a statement, Bain & Co. said they are considering their options in response to the ban.
“We disagree with the ban and are considering our options in response to this decision. We had already reached out to various stakeholders, including Treasury and SARS, to engage in further dialogue.
“We repaid to SARS all fees plus interest prior to the completion of the Nugent Commission in 2018 and have not pursued any public sector work since 2019, nor did we have plans to do so in the future.
“There is no evidence that Bain colluded with SARS or engaged in any corrupt and fraudulent practices.”
