United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says he's honoured to observe Mandela Day in Durban.
He says the late former President dedicated his time to creating awareness and fighting the AIDS epidemic.
"This is what Nelson Mandela has worked really hard for during his lifetime and left a towering legacy. I'm very happy and honoured to observe International Mandela Day. I should have been in New York celebrating with member of states. This is another significant day for me to be in Durban," he said.
