A Department of Basic Education official has been injured after protestors stormed the department's building in Tshwane on Monday.
The department's spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says the group assaulted her and took her two phones.
“One of my colleagues in the communications unit is in hospital. She was admitted and taken to hospital. The doctor is attending to her. Her two phones were snatched from her by the protestors who stormed into the building in the chaos they assaulted her and took her phones.
"Up until now her phones have not been recovered, that is what we are working on now after the meeting ended.”
Scores of protestors stormed the department's offices on Monday to complain about unplaced pupils.
It is believed that the protestors were from Atteridgeville in Tshwane.
They were demanding that primary schools be converted into high schools for teaching and learning purposes.

Mhlanga says preparations to admit uplaced learners will start to Tuesday.
“So, preparations to admit those learners administratively are going to start tomorrow morning.
"The officials from the DBE and the district office are going to be there in Atteridgeville to make sure that learners are admitted and that each one of them are checked for their credentials.
“It is not just Atteridgeville, it looks like even in other parts of the City or Mamelodi. It’s not just Tshwane, even in the West Rand and other parts of the province, it looks as though schools are full now. And parents are still demanding space. That part has been resolved.”
