According to News24, police have also identified the man who allegedly pulled the trigger that killed the football star.

The person is apparently serving 30 years in jail for killing a Johannesburg taxi boss.

He allegedly used the same to kill the taxi boss that he used three months early for the murder of Meyiwa.

Cele told the media on Wednesday said he would only answer questions when he holds his own press conference on the matter.

"The gun found shouldn't make news, it should finalise and resolve the case. So I heard that it is leaked, how do you expect the minister to answer on leaked issues? So I will leave them leaked," said Cele.

The police minister was in KwaZulu-Natal to brief the media on crime in the province together with Premier Sihle Zikalala.
