Cele: One arrested in Senekal on firearm charge

One person has been arrested for carrying an unlicensed firearm at a roadblock in Senekal in the Free State, Police Minister Bheki Cele confirmed on Friday.

Cele and State Security Minister Ayanda Dlodlo briefed the media outside the local magistrate’s court.
The ministers are in the town for the court appearance of two suspects linked to the murder of young farm manager Brendin Horner.
The murder and court appearance has raised tensions on the town, with the several groups descending on the town on Friday.

“Those that were armed were sent back. Of those that were armed, one was carrying an unlicensed firearm. He was arrested,” said Cele.
“The law says that you can’t gather while armed. If you are carrying an illegal firearm you get arrested.”

The Police Minsiter, along with the Minister of State Security Ayanda Dlodlo are in court, to find out the fate of the two men accused of the brutal murder of 21 year-old farm manager Brendin Horner.
The court is expected to rule on whether or not the men will get bail.
