The trial of the leader of the Rivers of Living Waters Ministries, Stephen Bafana Zondo, has been postponed.

Zondo (55) appeared in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday for the start of the trial.
He has been charged with rape, contravening the Sexual Offences Act as well as defeating the ends of justice.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says Zondo will be back in court at the end of August.

“The trial was set to start today, however the defence requested the matter be postponed to 30 November as they were not ready to proceed. The state advocate opposed the postponement stating that the defence had enough time to prepare for the matter and that the state was ready to proceed with the trial. The judge granted the defence a one-week postponement.
“The matter was postponed to 30 August 2021 for trial.”
Zondo is facing nine counts of allegedly raping a family member when she was 8 or 9 in the 1980s.
Other members who were allegedly raped by Zondo were members of his congregation.
