Blade axed as President Zuma reshuffles his cabinet
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
President Jacob Zuma has yet again decided to reshuffle his cabinet, with Blade Nzimande axed as Minister of Higher Education.
Nzimande has been replaced by Ayanda Dlodlo, with Buti Manamela appointed as the Deputy Minister of Higher Education.
Nzimande and the South African Communist Party (SACP) have consistently called for President Zuma to step down.
The decision to move former State Security minister David Mahlobo to the Department of Energy could be seen as a move to fast-track the country's nuclear deal. Mahlobo replaces Mmamaloko Kubayi, who in turn moves to the communications portfolio.
