Updated | By Karabo Tebele
A 52-year-old woman has been arrested in the Johannesburg CBD for impersonating a police officer.
She was allegedly collecting money from foreign-owned shops in the city.
Johannesburg police spokesperson Xoli Mbhele says her victims thought she was a police captain.
"Police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties when they receive a complaint about a female wearing police uniform demanding money from shops owned by foreign nationals.
"She told the police she is a captain working at Johannesburg central police. She was also in possession of a fake police appointment card."
The woman is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
