Bonginkosi Khanyile's trial postponed to May
Fees Must Fall activist, Bonginkosi Khanyile, will spend almost two months enjoying his freedom until his next court appearance.
His case has been postponed until 12 May - when his pre-trial conference is due to be finalised.
The DUT student made his first court appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court today - after he was granted bail of R250 in the ConCourt.
Khanyile was all smiles when he appeared in court on Friday.
His attorney, Nhlakanipha Nxumalo, asked that the case be postponed for a while or taken off the court roll to allow for more time to prepare for the trial.
The prosecutor said they're willing to go ahead with a postponement - provided it's not a long one.
The Magistrate said the case being removed completely is out of the question. Khanyile's attorney was given almost two months to prepare for the trial.
He was arrested during anti-fees protests in September, and faces a number of charges - including public violence and the possession of explosive
