BOSA asks Parliament for personal explanation from Simelane on VBS-linked ‘loan’
Updated | By Emile Pienaar
Build One South Africa has requested that Parliament’s rules committee instruct Justice Minister Thembi Simelane to deliver a personal explanation on her VBS-linked loan agreement.

Spokesperson Roger Solomons said there is a need for full disclosure and accountability, as there could have been violations of key legislation and parliamentary ethics.
He warned that it raises concerns about transparency and integrity.
The BOSA request piled further pressure on Simelane after ActionSA recently filed criminal charges against her for a loan of more than R500,000 she received from a VBS-linked fixer, Gundo Wealth Solutions, during her tenure as Polokwane mayor.
The company’s owner, Ralliom Razwinane, has been charged with fraud, corruption, and money laundering related to facilitating connections and “investments” between municipalities, including the Polokwane Municipality and the now-defunct VBS Mutual Bank.
BOSA's spokesperson, Roger Solomons, said there is a need for full disclosure.
“BOSA has today requested parliament's rules committee to instruct Justice Minister Simelani to deliver a personal explanation regarding the series of inconsistencies surrounding a lone agreement within individuals linked to the VBS corruption scandal.
“A personal explanation is an accountability mechanism provided for in the terms of Rules 91 of the National Assembly rules. As both the minister and a member of parliament Simelane is accountable, firstly to Parliament, and not to a party’s internal processes and so-called commissions.”
