Brackenfell High loses court bid to bar EFF protest
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Brackenfell High School in Cape Town has lost a court bid to prevent the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) from protesting outside its premises.

The school applied for an interdict against the EFF at the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.
This follows the violent scenes outside the school on Monday, when a group of parents attacked EFF protestors.
An unofficial matric ball organised by parents stirred up racial tensions at the school and the community after it emerged it had been attended exclusively by white pupils.
The school has denied claims of racism.
EFF provincial chairperson Melikhaya Xego says the ruling is proof that the party is allowed to exercise its democratic right to protest.

“We have received such news from our head office, they did indicate that those people who wanted to interdict were doing it on behalf of the SGB and they lost their bid to do so. We welcome the response from the court which means that democracy is allowed to be exercised.”
Meanwhile, a 39-year-old suspect who was arrested for discharging an airgun during the protest will appear in court on Wednesday.
He will appear at the Kuilsriver Magistrate’s Court.
