RUGBY LEGEND DIES: Rugby legend Jonah Lomu, the game's first global superstar whose speed and power terrorised opponents, died unexpectedly on Wednesday aged 40, the player's family and New Zealand Rugby said. Lomu, who for decades battled the kidney disease that ended his career, passed away suddenly at his Auckland home, family spokesman John Mayhew said. "I can confirm that Jonah Lomu died this morning it was totally unexpected, Jonah and his family arrived back from the UK last night," Mayhew told TV3 before breaking down in tears. Former Springbok player, Joel Stransky remembers Lomu all too well.

ANOTHER SHOOTING IN FRANCE: It's reported from Paris, that there was a shooting in a northern suburb earlier this morning, during an anti-terror police operation, according to sources. This, as the search for the main suspect continues five days after the worst attacks in French history killed 129 people in the capital. Earlier this morning, it was also reported from the US that two Air France flights - one from Los Angeles the other from Washington - were diverted to Salt Lake City and Hallifax - for emergency landings after two anonymous bomb threats. Both planes landed safely.

FRENCH AMBASSADOR CALLS SA TO STAND AGAINST TERROR: In Pretoria, the French ambassador to South Africa, Elisabeth Barbier  yesterday asked all South Africans to stand against terror. Maryke Vermak was there. 

EXAM PAPER LEAKED IN LIMPOPO: Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga says there will definitely be consequences for those that leaked the life sciences paper in Limpopo. The question paper will now have to be rewritten, after it was leaked. Minister Motshekga says it's just a matter of who will re-write.

BAFANA BAFANA CLOSER TO WORLD CUP QUALIFICATION: Bafana Bafana came a step closer to World Cup 2018 qualification in Durban last night after beating Angola 1-0 and 4-1 on aggregate. But, as Trevor Cramer reports, this is just the start of Bafana's long road to Russia.

MISS SA LEAVES FOR CHINA: Reigning Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie and her First Princess Refilwe Mthimunye today revealed some of their pageant costumes as they prepare to compete in the Miss World and Miss Universe competitions respectively. Laurie leaves South Africa this week to compete in the 65th Miss World competition which takes place at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China PR on December 19. South Africa's Rolene Strauss will crown her successor at the end of the event.
