MIDO MACIA -The family of murdered Mozambican taxi driver Mido Macia, have confirmed that negotiations are underway to settle a civil claim of R6.5 million. Eight former Daveyton police officers were yesterday found guilty of Macia's murder in February 2013, when he was also dragged behind a police van.

 

Jacaranda FM news reporter, Silindelo Masikane, reports that Macia's sister says no amount of money will make here forgive his killers.

 

She further speaks of  the pain that she has felt while listening to testimonies in court. 

 

 

HAWKS - Three members of the Hawks are expected to appear in a Welkom court in the Free State today, for allegedly stealing two hundred and fifty thousand rands (R250 000) from a member of the public.

 

It is believed the captain and two constables searched the man's car without a warrant and found the money hidden inside a door panel. The policemen then left with the money which they sealed in an exhibit bag. However, the cash was never signed in at the police station. Hawks spokesperson, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi has more. 

 

 

ROBBERY - Two on-duty soldiers at the Tempe military base in the Free State were robbed on Monday morning. They were robbed of their rifles and ammunition by two attackers with knives. Police and Military police have now launched a massive manhunt.
