The acting police-commissioner in North West, Major General Jacob Tsumane put out a statement saying that members who were affected by the report were receiving assistance and support and were still carrying out their duties. The statement read: "A commission of enquiry was appointed by the President to look into the event which led to the Marikana tragedy in August 2012. We have been rendering support to those who were affected and the support system continues until further notice. I have noticed in media reports, faceless people who are claiming to be closer to the facts and are making unfounded statements about our management.
