President Jacob Zuma would like for South Africans to consider a gun-free South Africa. His comments come while he was visiting the family of a slain police officer killed in the line of duty. Police statistics show that the number of police members killed this year already exceeds the total number of policemen killed last year. Karabo Ngoepe has more:
Today will mark the second day of Julius Malema’s court appearance at the Polokwane High Court. Malema and his two co accused will be appearing on charges of corruption and racketeering. Yesterday, the case was postponed as one of Malema's co-accused was ill. Jacaranda FM reporter, Maidi Monareng highlights how the EFF-leader would like for the judge to separate the hearings as he wants his innocence to be proven.
Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela has called for the relevant ministers, to investigate the visible neglect of facilities at President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla home. Madonsela, was asked about the state of the multi-million rand project when she addressed the media yesterday, revealed during the in loco inspection by Parliament's ad-hoc committee last month. Maryke Vermaak has more.
Spokesperson for Netcare 911, Chris Botha confirms that the emergency services received a call at 4am today, after a petrol tanked crashed into the back of a stationery truck on the N2 in Durban. The two vehicles burst into flames upon impact, but fortunately none of the drivers were hurt during the accident. Botha gives more details. The blaze has now been brought under control.
