BREAKING: Robert Mugabe resigns
Robert Mugabe has officially handed in his resignation.
The Zimbabwean president's resignation follows mounting pressure for him to step down as head of state.
Mugabe was ousted as leader of the ruling party, Zanu-PF, at the weekend.
Zimbabwean correspondent Zenzele Ndebele says Mugabe tendered his resignation with the Speaker of Parliament.
Zimbabweans are celebrating in the streets as well as on social media following the announcement.
The 93-year-old has been in power of Zimbabwe for 37 years.

Mugabe's resignation comes mere hours after impeachment proceedings were set in motion in the Zimbabwean Parliament on Tuesday.
