Breakthrough in Rosettenville shooting as another suspect is arrested

Police have made another breakthrough in the investigation into the massive gun battle that took place between law enforcement and a heavily armed gang in Rosettenville in the south of Johannesburg on Monday.
Another suspect was arrested on Wednesday – when police raided a premises in Tembisa on the Gauteng East Rand.
This suspect is believed to have been the one who shot at the police helicopter and wounded the pilot and co-pilot.

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Elias Mawela, rushed to the scene in Tembisa.

The suspect who was arrested in Tembisa on Wednesday, is believed to be the one who shot at police in the helicopter.

Eight suspects were shot and killed during a foiled Cash-In-Transit (CIT) robbery.
Amongst those killed is a former member of the military service.
Ten suspects who appeared in court on Wednesday have been charged with 8 counts of murder, attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of explosives and possession of hijacked vehicles.
They will be back in court in March.
