Earlier this month, the Public Protector made adverse findings against the municipality for failing to provide Hammanskraal residents with clean water for almost two decades.

The Public Protector gave the municipality 60 days to adopt a plan for the refurbishment and upgrade project, December marks the start of 30 days before a plan can be announced.

Ealier this year more than 40 people died form Cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal.

Speaking on the final council sitting of the year on Thursday, Brink said there is need for cooperation between all spheres of government.

Brink said they are committed to resolving the Hammanskraal water crisis.

"Rooiwal Water Treatment Plant is too big problem for one sphere of government to solve, or to be characterised by fights and finger pointing between different spheres of government, we have to say to people this is the commitment we make together.

"Over the years the infrastructure has degraded at the plant and the solution has become more expensive, to the point that even now as we are submitting this solution it is unclear where will the refurbishment come from, but the commitment to do so in partnership with other spheres of government is the defining feature of this approach." he added
