The Gauteng Education Department is investigating a possible severe case of bullying, after the death of a primary school learner from a school in Benoni on the East Rand.

Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says police are also investigating the circumstances after allegations that the boy was injured while he had been bullied on more than one occasion.
" We are investigating circumstances surrounding the death because there are allegations that this was reported to the school."
Mabona says they have already offered any professional help the family might need.
